Addison’s disease is a rare but serious condition that occurs as the result of damage to the adrenal glands. This disease leads to the decreased production of cortisol and aldosterone. Claims of CBD’s benefits in treating numerous conditions abound, but research on its use as a treatment measure for Addison’s disease is currently lacking
The condition is the result of adrenal gland damage. Most frequently, autoimmune failures cause the damage. The symptoms of Addison’s disease include:
• Low blood pressure
• Darkening skin coloration
• Extreme fatigue
• Loss of appetite and subsequent weight loss
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea and vomiting
• Low blood sugar
• Depression and anxiety
As research into the effects of the chemical on the human system is in its nascent stages, evidence to back up a majority of the claims for the benefits of CBD is thus far non-existent. So, does the research support the use of CBD for adrenal gland insufficiencies? It does not. To date there is a lack of research on how CBD can help Addison’s disease. There is some evidence to support its potential use in treating the symptoms of anxiety and depression, though the studies on depression were conducted in a lab.
