Giving CBD Oil to Your Pets
Although much of the evidence for CBD’s healing abilities come from animal models, there hasn’t been any direct testing of how CBD interacts with man’s best friend: the dog.
However, much like with humans, there is a fair amount of anecdotal evidence that CBD can help canine’s dealing with several issues:
Anxiety
Chronic pain
Inflammation
Lack of hunger
Nausea
Seizures
NOTE: You should also know that your pet can experience the same side effects as humans do – dry mouth, drowsiness, or lowered blood pressure.
Can CBD Be Used To Treat Pets?
Have you ever wondered if CBD for pets is a good idea? Although research is in its infancy, it appears that animals may be helped with CBD treatments.
Giving CBD to Other Animals
Dogs are not the only animals driving a CBD pet car market that’s expected to reach $125 million by 2022. Oils, treats, balms, and creams are available for a wide range of animals and pets.
In 2017, the World Health Organization released a report that CBD seems to be safe and tolerated well by animals. However, studies conducted in 2018 did find an increase in a particular liver enzyme, alkaline phosphatase, in canines specifically.
While CBD oil for other animals typically contains only trace amounts of THC, you should still keep an eye on your pet for signs of THC poisoning. Usually, toxic levels of THC manifests itself through several symptoms: Diarrhea, Lethargy, Nausea (including vomiting), Restlessness, Trouble standing.
